CBC History

Click here for the complete text of the Dexter History of the CBC. A must read for anyone interested in Falls Church and how it came to be "the City" we know and love. The history of the CBC and the City of Falls Church has developed hand in hand and they have long been tied together. This History was last updated in 1993. It's interesting to note that development density was a key issue then, as now. We are working on an update that will cover the "next 15 years" -from 1993 to 2008. We'll post it as soon as it's ready. Until then READ ON & ENJOY Sincerely, Jody Acosta CBC Pres.  9/20/2008

Thanks for visiting CBC on the web. Chances are you're here to find out more about us. The CBC was founded almost fifty years ago by some forward-thinking folks who put the interests of the City above partisan politics. The CBC was founded in order to establish a first-class school system in our newly independent City, and to identify quality candidates for City Council and help them seek election. (Now the CBC works to find candidates for School Board, too, since they're no longer appointed positions.) After almost fifty years, these are still two of the main reasons we exist.

WE ARE THE CBC:

Dr. Gordon Theisz w/ daughter Delaney, and Michelle Rhodes

Former Mayor Brian O'Connor w/ Sheriff Steve Bittle

Bob Loftur-Thun, Chair of the Environmental Svcs. Board and Barbara McCall

Mayor Robin Gardner and Councilman Dan Maller, Falls Church Memorial Day Parade

Councilman Dave Snyder and Phil Duncan

New Field Dedication at George Mason High School, by CBC-elected (from left): School Board Chair Craig Cheney,  Mayor Robin Gardner and Vice Mayor Lindy Hockenberry and former School Board Chair Sally Ekfelt. Also shown, Howard Herman, Dir. of Rec & Parks, Tom Horn, Athletic Director and Bob Snee, Principal of GMHS.

  • Below cartoon from the 1979 Issue of CBC Notes, the caption reads:

"CBC - for 20 years the muscle in the arm of Falls Church - has assured open, active and responsive political participation in the City's development."

It seems the more things change, the more they stay the same!
